How to Update WordPress Plugins & Themes
Updating plugins and themes in WordPress is essential for security, performance, and compatibility with the latest version of WordPress. Here are the steps to update plugins and themes:
Updating Plugins:
- Navigate to the Plugins Section:
- In the WordPress dashboard, find and click on “Plugins” in the left-hand menu. This will open the Plugins page.
- Check for Updates:
- On the Plugins page, you’ll see a list of installed plugins. If there are updates available, you will see a notification next to the plugins that need updating.
- Select Plugins for Update:
- Check the box next to the plugins you want to update or use the “Select All” option if you want to update all plugins.
- Choose “Update” from the Bulk Actions Dropdown:
- In the “Bulk Actions” dropdown menu, select “Update,” and then click the “Apply” button. Alternatively, you can click the “Update Now” link next to each plugin individually.
- Wait for the Update to Complete:
- WordPress will automatically download and install the updates. You will see a progress indicator. Once completed, you’ll receive a success message.
Updating Themes:
- Go to the Themes Section:
- In the WordPress dashboard, click on “Appearance” in the left-hand menu, and then select “Themes.”
- Check for Updates:
- On the Themes page, you’ll see a list of installed themes. If there are updates available, you will see a notification next to the themes that need updating.
- Select Themes for Update:
- Check the box next to the themes you want to update or use the “Select All” option if you want to update all themes.
